Sunny South getting down

I’m going to admit something right from the start. I don’t care for this particular set. Not on account of the band, not at all. I love those guys. The venue however, I just wasn’t feeling the lighting.

I’m not the type of person that likes to default to black and white when shooting live. Don’t get me wrong, there is the occasional shot that just looks fabulous in black and white. There is also the time where your exposure wasn’t right or those horrid lights are flashing they’re lovely displays of color. I do edit in black and white. I just don’t particularly care to more often than not. It’s the same reason I don’t like using flash when shooting live either. I think that to make a photo black and white or to use flash cancels out a major part of the mood in a shot. I’m not saying I’m right, that’s just my take on it.

That being said, this little bar and grill was a bit of a challenge for me. Still, I like to meet challenges head on. This was my result. I did edit some shots in black and white obviously, while some others I just took an artistic flare. Either case, here are my favorites. You can check out the full set here.
