Give it up for George Clinton & the P Funk

South Florida wanted the funk and George Clinton and the Parliament-Funkadelic obliged. When I heard that George Clinton was making a farewell tour and that he was going to be in attendance at One Nation Under a Groove, I simply had to be there.

This night was going to be great and I knew it. For starters, my guys at The Main Squeeze were opening up the night and I would have gone out for them alone. Add to that fact, Fishbone and George Clinton with the P Funk was going to be there as well, I just couldn’t pass it up. Yes, there was the possibility of a hurricane.. Thankfully, I always prepare early. Mainly because I’m a born and raised South Floridian and it is hurricane season this time of year. Plus, to be honest, I simply prefer to avoid all the chaotic aspects of shopping for supplies last minute.
I digress, however. The night had arrived and it was showtime. So along with my Beast and his two lenses of choice, several memory cards and an extra set of batteries, off I went to get my funk on. As the quote goes, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
I was shooting from the soundboard and surrounding areas the majority of the night and George Clinton and the Parliament were no exception. I was really glad brought my longer lens out so I could still come in close. These guys were having a blast on that stage and everyone could feel it. The house was packed and the fans are die-hard, so I tried to limit my obstruction as much as possible. So I shot quick and clean.
I am rather pleased with how the set turned out. And without any further ado, here is my top 10 choice for you guys. Though please go and check them out on my Facebook page. There is so much more. You’ll see what I mean by having a great time on that stage. Let me know what you think.
