So here’s the deal. In the 3 years I’ve been shooting live music, I had never shot a band with my 50mm prime lens. Despite reading in several different places how it’s the obvious choice when shooting in dark or dimly lit venue due to the larger aperture, for me it is simply a matter of having the flexibility of a zoom lens and not having to pack more than necessary when going out.
Even with a fight breaking out right next to me, it was all about the vibe that night. Of course my small little self got up quick as hell and relocated to a different spot. I was not trying to be a casualty on such a gorgeous night. The fight not withstanding, I was loving it that night. The spinners were on fire, figuratively speaking of course. Or am I? (more…)

Every now and then I enjoy going out for walks, especially when it’s a particularly gorgeous day. Thankfully, on this particular day, the temps weren’t in competition with hell and so I decided to take a quick little venture out to Tropical Park which is near my home. I grew up in this park. I remember going to play here back when I was a young girl with my parents and I still visit it here and there now as an adult. While it’s not the most scenic of parks in the South Florida area, it still has it’s little hidden treasures. From the landscaping in certain areas, to your random little animal friends, it always manages on bringing a smile to my face. Besides, sometimes the day to day city life can be quite stressful, and going out to take in nature is always recommended. At least by me anyways. (more…)
Well, for starters let’s just say I have a favorite cover band. Not only are they epic on stage, but I have come to call them my friends. You are guaranteed a great time whenever you see them and yes, you will dance even if you don’t want to. I’m serious. What’s the best thing someone can do when they are feeling restless and caged? My answer, go for a walk. Now granted, you may not think you have the time and sometimes it may seem difficult to find the time, however it’s there. You just have to but in a bit of effort. I have been itching to get behind the lens again, and while I have some pending projects in line, I didn’t have anything scheduled for last weekend. Sometime last year, on a rainy afternoon, I had ventured out to Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. I had been wanting to shoot there for quite some time and I was not disappointed in the least. I instantly fell in love with the place and have been wanting to revisit for a while now. So I did. It was all that I remembered and more. Of course I brought along my camera and have come here to share with you all.
