In my experience as a photographer, there are times when you positively love the images you capture, and other times, not so much. This particular time out, I’m very much loving this set. I don’t know whether it was the lighting this time around or the fog machines, perhaps just how good I was feeling; I am insanely pleased with these photos. It of course helps that the majority of them are of my favorite local band. (more…)
This weekend I had the pleasure of heading out to our local Art District here in Miami for an exclusive photo shoot with one of my close friends, Nick Voss. He had wanted to get together and take a few photos in an urban type setting for the release of his three new singles and I was more than happy to oblige. (more…)
While some may consider me morbid when I say this, know that morbidity is not the reasoning I feel what I’m about to express. While I dislike and possibly despise going to wakes and funerals, I love cemeteries. Between the idea that souls buried there have found peace, to the stone and artwork, I find cemeteries to be a place of beauty. Though it pains me to see the heartbreak for those visiting their loved ones, the opposite side of the coin is that pain is matched by the same level of love. (more…)
2014 and the beginning of a new year. 2013 is now come and gone and I find it fitting to bring to you my last set of photographs of the year. I had the pleasure of photographing at CMN’s first annual winter music concert. It was a great evening full of wonderful talent both in music and in art. I, for one, was thankful to be present and wish them even more success in the upcoming events. So here is my final set of the year. I look forward to many more opportunities in this upcoming years. Being a photographer so far has given me some wonderful experiences. I’ve met amazing people and have had the pleasure of working with some rather talented individuals. If that isn’t rewarding enough, I’m also having a great time. It does require a lot of time, though all in all it’s a small price to pay. (more…)
There hasn’t been much spare time for anything lately it seems. Unfortunately my present job has been requiring far too many hours, keeping me from having time behind the lens. It is unfortunately a necessity at the moment. I did, however, manage on getting out a for short while to Art Basel this past Wednesday, I am on of the performers in an video art installation, and I was there to who my support to the artist. (more…)
This year our Thanksgiving was bittersweet. I was initially asked not to take any photographs during the evening, though minds were changed as the time got closer. For that fact I am grateful. There was a lot of beautiful moments I was thankful to have capture and you can see some of them here in this entry. I hope you enjoy them as they have brought a smile to my face. (more…)
Every other week my family and I visit the grave of my deceased aunt. Although I am still numb, there is still pain there beneath the surface. Still, I have always had a fascination with cemeteries. There is something beautiful in the pain. Today I decided to hide behind the lens and attempt to photograph the beauty in it. It was my way of coping with the emotion. I didn’t photograph for long, not this time. (more…)
Hello friends and fans alike. It’s been some time since I’ve last posted an entry and I’m hoping you can forgive me. If you know me personally or read my personal blog www.queenmaryxo.com you’ll know I’ve recently suffered a death of someone very close to me. Although she was a great supporter of my work, I haven’t had it in me to get behind the lens. For the last two weeks I’ve been fighting with myself to snap out of it (no pun intended), yet it wasn’t as easy as that. (more…)
I love shooting pool. It falls right on up there in my favorite past times list. Of course with time being as limited as it is, I rarely have time to indulge my pool hall junkie side. This weekend, however, was an entirely different story. Imagine my excitement when amongst the list of plans for the evening was to go to our local hall and push the rock around. Artemis and I were both very excited. While I spent more time on the table as opposed to behind the lens, I did manage on snapping a few to share with you. Who says I don’t care about my readers. So here they are, my favorites of the evening. I hope you all enjoy them. (more…)
