You’ve heard it before and I am most certain you will hear it a few times more to say the least, however I have been a very busy queen. I realize it’s not about having the time, it’s about making it and so I’ve been putting in hours both in my day job and in to my photography. After all, it is my passion, my life. The bills do still need to be paid though, so until I’ve learned to split myself in two, I do what I can do. I digress. About two months ago I had the opportunity, as well as the pleasure, of making it out to Cheers in Ft. Lauderdale to check out some local bands doing what they do. It had been a while since I had shot live and so I was a bit rusty, however it did not make it any less exciting for me. After all, shooting live music is my passion.
What can I say… another favorite band of mine closed down the house and I was loving it… It’s kind of hard not to with a group of talented individuals.. It was almost bittersweet to have their set end, however all things com to an end as they say. (more…)
It’s with great excitement that I’m writing this post. For several reasons, actually. First and foremost, on a personal level I was able to make it out to Cheers in Ft. Lauderdale this last Friday night to support some friends of mine and my favorite bands. I love going out to see live music, meeting new people and in general, having a great time. Secondly, and equally as important, I got to shoot live. Now, mind you, it’s been quite some time since I’ve shot live music. It hasn’t been easy for me to find the time lately although it is my favorite type of photography. This particular event though, I could not miss. (more…)

Two weeks ago, I stepped out to my tattoo shop to join in their 15 year celebration. Wow, 15 years already. Congratulations, Almost Famous, great peeps, amazing work and you keep us coming back. A couple of weeks back I was invited to sit in while a friend of ours and his new band were laying down some tracks for the upcoming EP of theirs. Now I was shooting more from a personal level, being that I was truthfully just enjoying hanging out. However, I did get a couple of shots that I wanted to share with you all. There are a couple from the recording session, as well as some from the downtime at the pool hall. In my experience as a photographer, there are times when you positively love the images you capture, and other times, not so much. This particular time out, I’m very much loving this set. I don’t know whether it was the lighting this time around or the fog machines, perhaps just how good I was feeling; I am insanely pleased with these photos. It of course helps that the majority of them are of my favorite local band. (more…)
This weekend I had the pleasure of heading out to our local Art District here in Miami for an exclusive photo shoot with one of my close friends, Nick Voss. He had wanted to get together and take a few photos in an urban type setting for the release of his three new singles and I was more than happy to oblige. (more…)
Hello friends and fans alike. It’s been some time since I’ve last posted an entry and I’m hoping you can forgive me. If you know me personally or read my personal blog www.queenmaryxo.com you’ll know I’ve recently suffered a death of someone very close to me. Although she was a great supporter of my work, I haven’t had it in me to get behind the lens.
