Don’t forget your jacket, Black Jacket that is

I know it has been a couple of weeks since my last post. I’ve been quite busy with work and revamping my website. Needless to say, both tasks have taken up quite a bit of time. I did however take a break on Friday night to watch my friends, Black Jacket, do their thing at Will Call. They had asked me to come and snap a few photos. Since I haven’t been out to see them in a few months, I was more than willing to oblige. Since then a new vocalist has come on board and I was excited to hear them at a venue like Will Call. It was a great set and the boys, excuse me, men, are sounding great. As for my pictures, here are my favorites. I’m still trying to get the hang of the whole shooting manual mode. I especially want to get comfortable with going between the settings as needed while shooting. (more…)

Rising to the top

This weekend I had the pleasure of going to the premiere of Urban Rebel’s new video, Awake. Once again, Urban Rebel did not disappoint. In fact, they raised the bar all the more. As for this queen, she was smart enough to bring her camera along to capture some of that energy. You see, though I’m not  a professional photographer, I fancy myself UR’s personal photographer in a way and I am thankful for their appreciation of my photos. I love capturing their passion and the love they have for their art. I believe that is what truly shines through. I am also glad I can share it with you, readers. On that note I bring to you my favorite shots of evening. I present to you, Urban Rebel at the video premiere event for Awake.

Early morning travel

Hello world. I’m past due for an entry. You have my sincerest apologies. Unfortunately there has not been enough hours in the day lately and I’ve been pulled in far too many directions. I did however grab a few snaps to share with you. I am referring to them as snaps on account of them in essence just snap and go as I was walking through the Miami International airport while returning our rental car. (more…)

Queen of the hall

I’ve been meaning to update this blog for a couple of days now. I thought that during my week off of work I would have time to do so, though it turns out I didn’t. I did, however, spend a few days editing the last Urban Rebel performance so that they can use it on their new website. I also thoroughly enjoyed my birthday weekend. Before I knew it, it was time to return to work. (more…)

First flight

Why hello there. I realize its been a few days since I’ve stopped by to share anything new with you. I have however been biding my time until now. The reason? I had waited for the arrival of my new lens. I am now the owner of a 17-55mm 2.8 Canon. Granted, it’s not an L lens and I will not be able to use it when I upgrade my Rebel in the future. However, being that the upgrade is a ways away both financially and in experience, I wanted to step up my walk around lens while at the same time gaining a bit more performance when I take in our local music scene. Some healthy competition

Good afternoon lovelies. It’s a rainy day here in Miami and after going for a walk in the rain, I’ve decided now would be a great time to share some of my recent snaps. Well, one particular set anyways. These next few photos come from one of my lunch time walkabouts in downtown. You see, my job is nearby to quite a few places and this college campus was just the perfect place to walk to on this particular day. It turns out they were having a little basketball competition and I found it the perfect time to try my luck at a little sports photography. (more…)

Downtown architecture

I have a thing for buildings. Well, not necessarily buildings, rather architecture. It’s amazing how beautiful stone or steel can look with at a certain time of day, or even some editing. It’s all a matter of perspective really. However, for me it’s something that I’m rather fond of and downtown Miami has plenty to see. Especially around the area I work in.  (more…)

City Zen

This past Thursday the morning was positively beautiful here in Miami. Well, at least the morning’s weather was gorgeous. I decided to take yet another one of my walks over towards Bayfront Park in the downtown area. It really is one of my favorite places to go before work. It is especially nice when I get there early enough to watch the sun come up. This particular morning I had arrived a little bit late and therefore missed the sunrise. However, it was still another lovely morning. (more…)

Miami Beauty

Hello everyone. I was actually meaning to make this entry yesterday, however, I made a slight detour. I was putting together a little compilation for a friend’s Facebook page. I’m actually quiet flattered that it will be an album. I don’t think there is a shortage of pictures, that’s for sure. After all, he is the lead vocalist and front man of Urban Rebel. I’ve taken an insane amount of pictures of the band and there are plenty where he is the focus. So much so, that I almost felt like a weird stalker when I was putting the album together. My wolf and I had a good laugh about it. (more…)

A new dawn, a new day, a new life

While my lovely and slow bandwidth takes it sweet time uploading some new pictures to my SmugMug gallery, I decided I wanted to share with you a couple of pictures. These three are from my Earth, Air, Fire & Water series. I spend a lot of time by the water. Especially when I get to the downtown area early enough and I head out by Bayfront Park to watch the sunrise. I love sunrises, in fact, I prefer them to sunsets. For me, there is just something about the sun rising over the horizon. The feeling of warmth I get just from watching it come in breaking in a new day with its light. I especially love the sunrising over the water. (more…)
