Listen to the wind blow, watch the sun rise.

I have been meaning, wanting, needing, to head out to the beach and watch the sunrise. To watch the daybreak, the sky lighting up in its golden hues. To feel the warmth touch my skin. To be able to bring in the dawn of a new day with an open heart. It’s just something I love to do.

I’d been looking for a weekend when they weren’t forecasting rain. Especially being how early I would have to wake up. Well, let’s just say South Florida weather can be unpredictable, and watching the weather reports is not always accurate. Days where it was supposed to rain it, would only rain late evenings. Sometimes, it would not rain at all.

So I decided to take matters into my own hands and went a step further. I looked up the forecast, found a day where no rain was predicted, and took the day off of work. Then it was a matter of what beach. I wanted a bit more out of my outing. After all, This was going to happen and I was taking the Beast with me. So I looked up a few piers in my area for a change in scenery and decided upon the pier at Juno Beach.

I suppose you could call photographs of a sunrise by the pier, cliche. All you have to do is a quick search on the internet and you’ll see what I mean. You’ll find some amazing ones. That did not prevent me, however, from wanting to capture some of my own. Now, the difference being is you know I had to go throw in some feel to my editing in post. It’s that personal touch that shows the feeling. What was I feeling while shooting? How does the image make YOU feel? Well, I am giving you something you can feel. Go ahead and let me know. These are a few of my favorites. There is a couple more on my Facebook page if you’d like to see.

Each day is born with a sunrise
and ends in a sunset, the same way we
open our eyes to see the light,
and close them to hear the dark.
You have no control over
how your story begins or ends.
But by now, you should know that
all things have an ending.
Every spark returns to darkness.
Every sound returns to silence.
And every flower returns to sleep
with the earth.
The journey of the sun
and moon is predictable.
But yours,
is your ultimate
ART.

The Von 4 U at Dawn

Last weekend I had the pleasure of spending some time with a band by the name of the The Von. They reached out to me wanting a few promo shots and I was happy to oblige. They wanted a bit of sunrise action and so we had chosen Delray Beach to begin.  (more…)

A New Dawn

It’s been years since I’ve watched the sunrise. Two years to be exact. Well, that was two years too long if you ask me. Well, I just had to do something about it this past weekend.  (more…)

Do what you can’t

Hey there readers. I’m bringing to you something along the lines of special for me. As you may or may not already know, I finally got my hands on the 5d Mark IV and let me tell you that I am absolutely in love.

This is one of my dream cameras. Actually, if I had to choose a camera to be THE favorite, Beast would be it. I’ve been wanting a 5d since I first began looking at DSLRs and it has been a goal of mine to own once since day 1. I still would like to make a formal introduction to you all however I could not wait to get shooting with him. What was even better was that I received him and his lovely lenses just before our local monthly drum circle.  While I know what he’s capable of, I wanted to see how I would do.

There’s definitely a learning curve going from a crop sensor Rebel, to a brief run with a crop 7d and now a full frame monster. I can’t wait until I know everything there is to know about him. Enough chit chat though. I want to share with you my first night out with my new love. It was a beautiful and clear night with great vibes as always. As for the shots, I know that I could have done better and the next time I will. Nonetheless, it was an amazing first session and here are my favorite captures of the night.

You know the drill. These are my favorites of the night and there are a few more of what I would consider some “not-so-great” shots on my Facebook page. As always, you are welcome to browse through should you so wish. As for me, it’s time to get to the next adventure.  While lately I find myself needing at least two clones though it is by no means a complaint. After all, effort equals rewards and I’m thankful to say that I’m certainly reaping them.

A Day Off At The Beach

What does one do when your calendar frees up? For me, I decided to enjoy my day off by doing a little bit of walking. After all, its as a gorgeous day. The sun was shining, the temperature was perfect and the breeze made for the perfect trifecta of conditions. (more…)

Fire flow on a moonlight night

Even with a fight breaking out right next to me, it was all about the vibe that night. Of course my small little self got up quick as hell and relocated to a different spot. I was not trying to be a casualty on such a gorgeous night. The fight not withstanding, I was loving it that night. The spinners were on fire, figuratively speaking of course. Or am I?  (more…)

Tale of Dragons

“You must burn. Burn higher.
Burn for everything you have ever wanted. For everything you have ever lost, for every crack in your heart and every fraction of every irreplaceable moment.
Burn high for love.
For fear. For life.
Burn as fast and as long as you can.
You must burn, burn higher.
Because nothing in this world will kill you faster than a dying fire.”
