I have been meaning, wanting, needing, to head out to the beach and watch the sunrise. To watch the daybreak, the sky lighting up in its golden hues. To feel the warmth touch my skin. To be able to bring in the dawn of a new day with an open heart. It’s just something I love to do.

I’d been looking for a weekend when they weren’t forecasting rain. Especially being how early I would have to wake up. Well, let’s just say South Florida weather can be unpredictable, and watching the weather reports is not always accurate. Days where it was supposed to rain it, would only rain late evenings. Sometimes, it would not rain at all.

So I decided to take matters into my own hands and went a step further. I looked up the forecast, found a day where no rain was predicted, and took the day off of work. Then it was a matter of what beach. I wanted a bit more out of my outing. After all, This was going to happen and I was taking the Beast with me. So I looked up a few piers in my area for a change in scenery and decided upon the pier at Juno Beach.

I suppose you could call photographs of a sunrise by the pier, cliche. All you have to do is a quick search on the internet and you’ll see what I mean. You’ll find some amazing ones. That did not prevent me, however, from wanting to capture some of my own. Now, the difference being is you know I had to go throw in some feel to my editing in post. It’s that personal touch that shows the feeling. What was I feeling while shooting? How does the image make YOU feel? Well, I am giving you something you can feel. Go ahead and let me know. These are a few of my favorites. There is a couple more on my Facebook page if you’d like to see.

Each day is born with a sunrise
and ends in a sunset, the same way we
open our eyes to see the light,
and close them to hear the dark.
You have no control over
how your story begins or ends.
But by now, you should know that
all things have an ending.
Every spark returns to darkness.
Every sound returns to silence.
And every flower returns to sleep
with the earth.
The journey of the sun
and moon is predictable.
But yours,
is your ultimate
ART.

While my lovely and slow bandwidth takes it sweet time uploading some new pictures to my SmugMug gallery, I decided I wanted to share with you a couple of pictures. These three are from my Earth, Air, Fire & Water series. I spend a lot of time by the water. Especially when I get to the downtown area early enough and I head out by Bayfront Park to watch the sunrise. I love sunrises, in fact, I prefer them to sunsets. For me, there is just something about the sun rising over the horizon. The feeling of warmth I get just from watching it come in breaking in a new day with its light. I especially love the sunrising over the water.

These two next shots are taken on one of those mornings. The glow of those orange tones alone are enough to take my breath away. The sad part of it is, from what I have heard, the more polluted are air is, the more breathtaking the sunrises and sunsets become. I don’t know how much of that is true. However, if that’s the case then it is a terrible and sad irony.
