I have been hooked on their performances from my very first experience with them several years back, so much so that I have not missed one of their performances since. Hellzapoppin’, if you’ve seen my previous posts when I’ve captured them, is definitely something unique and out of this world. I recommend that if you have never been to one of their show, please make it a point to take one in if they are ever in your town. There are so many wonders you just have to see for yourselves. 

On this particular night, they were performing in front of a packed house at Respectable Street in West Palm Beach and I was front and center, Beast in hand. I love it when the house is full and I get to see everyone’s excitement and reaction. While it at times limits my photography perspectives and angles on account of my not wanting to get in the way of viewers, it adds a certain energy to the night, one I try to capture in the photos. 

Now, about the photos you all came to see. First, let me say that it was very difficult for me to select my images for the album. I try to limit myself to no more than 50 images in one collection however I can’t seem to make it happen when working with these guys. There’s just so much to see that the album on my Facebook page has quite a variety and I promise you there is something for everyone so please stop on over to my Facebook page and give it a view.

In the meanwhile, I have selected my favorites for you. I typically only select my top 5 but with starting with as many photos as I did, selecting only five was simply not happening. So I’m giving you 12 in my final post for the year. Yes, twelve, one for each month of 2023. And to all of my readers and supporters, take a moment to reflect on how much you accomplished in 2022. There’s no limit to what you can do in 2023! Here’s to a fresh start in 2023. I can’t wait to see what it brings for you.

I could hardly wait until showtime last Saturday night at Respectable Street in West Palm Beach. Yes, there was a bit of downsizing that had to take place on account of venue size but it was no matter once they took to the stage. They were real and raw and I was in heaven behind that lens. There was sword swallowing, fire breathing, a magic show, a crossbow aimed at various individuals and of course, the man, the myth, the legend, Short E Dangerously.

I felt like I couldn’t get enough captures and my mind’s eye was on overdrive. So much so that the quantity of photos taken and edited made for a very happy queen only at the moment but this entire week of post work. Now, I. know that not all of you have been able to make it out anywhere and some of you may not have had the opportunity to check this troupe out live so I did my best to storyboard the night. Case in point the 100 images I have uploaded to my Facebook page for your viewing pleasure.

Yes that is a lot of photos and that being said picking my favorites of the night was difficult yet I did manage albeit more than my typical Top 5. There are ten this time around. You don’t mind, do you? I had such a great time and I can’t wait to check them out again next month. I have ideas and some angles I have to try. The world is watching. Face your Fears.

There is a certain performance troop that I love going to see. Yes, you’ve seen them before in my posts but not like this. Hellzapoppin‘ brought their tour down to South Florida again and you know I was in attendance. I just can’t help myself. They are not only a great show but they are incredibly down to earth as well. I love working with them and take advantage of the opportunity every chance that I get.

This past Father’s Day Kelsey Theater was packed with yet another full house waiting to be not just amazed but taken back by feats outside your usual run-of-the-mill type performance. Yes, they are Hellzapoppin, world renown theatrical ROCK-N-ROLL circus stunt-show where some of the deadliest stunts in live entertainment are performed to a LIVE audience. As you’ll see from this lovely little collection I’ve put together for you, I was literally front and center.

Before I get in to the photos though, I have to give you a little personal side note. I have been to quite a few of their performances already but this time around I got a little treat thrown in the bag. This particular tour they were joined by none other than the Lizard Man, Eric Sprague and I was so stoked to be able to have him in front of my lens as well. Yes, he is definitely a unique guy.

Enough of the sidetracking though, let me get you to the goods. I did work the room a bit but found myself really loving being up front and having them in some instances in my face. It gives you a totally different experience being that close to the action and I’m thankful they played in to my lens. I wanted to capture it from an audience point of view so that you all could get an idea of how it feels to be a part of their show.

I definitely am excited to be posting this entry today. Not only did I meet my self-imposed deadline despite an insane amount of 9-5 work, this set is one that I’m particularly fond of. So much so that this one time I am absolutely encouraging you to check out the full album on my Facebook Page. Well, after you read this quick little blurb of mine. So let’s get to this; yes?

For starters, I love me some Hellzapoppin. They are an amazing performance troupe that originated in Dallas Texas. Now they are touring the world and I was not missing them performing at one of my all-time favorite venues to photograph, The Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale. The lighting alone there excites me and when you add to it an amazing show full of insanely talented individuals performing all sorts of unique feats that leave one amazed to say the least. 

I’ve seen them before about a year ago at Kelsey Theater and I initially thought the performance would consist of basically the same thing. Well, I was wrong. I mean how many times can one say that they were witness to things such as sword and drill swallowing, hanging cowbells and bowling balls from hooks placed within an eye socket, the list goes on. This night was amazing. Being close to the action made it that much more incredible. But I’m going to let my top 20 show you just a glimpse of what I was witness to. So I did this thing ten days ago. I finally was able to attend a Hellzapoppin’ show as they were in town and performing at the very cute Kelsey Theater in Lake Park, Florida. It was a bit of a drive but let me tell you it was incredibly worth it. They were phenomenal and have a brand new fan with me. For those of you unaware of what Hellzapoppin’ is, Hellzapoppin is a world renown theatrical ROCK-N-ROLL circus stunt-show and side show. It’s the largest and among the last of the authentic traveling freak show..” 

The showmanship alone was excellent not to mention the feats these amazing artists were performing. To think that this was just a smaller touring group. I won’t even begin to imagine how insane a full group would be. These guys were great. Even after the show when you got to meet and greet the performers, they were so friendly and down to earth. I am also thankful I got to me the infamous Mr. Buggles before he passed away.

Of course I brought my eye extension named Beast and he and I could not get enough. And while I was unfortunately squeezed in the narrowest of views amongst an insanely packed house, I am still absolutely in love with not just my images, but the experience in itself. It was difficult for me to choose my favorites this time around. That being the case, I am posting a larger than usual album for you all to browse through and I encourage you to check out not just Hellzapoppin but the full set of my images on my Facebook page. There are just so many.

I couldn’t get enough behind that lens and I am looking forward to the next time I get to catch them perform.
