We prioritize and we move accordingly. That being said, I am making time today to get together a little post to share a recent event I was given the opportunity to cover with you all. While I’m not sharing with you the images from the job in specific I was hired to cover, I’m here now sharing with you the perk of the job that came after. Yes, the job was to cover one thing, but afterward came the fun, live music. 

It was so much fun working the MAS Miami event, even more so walking around after the fact, checking out all the live performances. I didn’t need much, just the vibe and my go-to lens, the 24-70mm. It was quick and easy but most of all, I had a great time. When it’s your passion, it’s not a job nor will it ever really be. So here I am setting aside a little time to share with you a collection taken from one of my latest ventures, MAS Miami 5. Here is my top 5 with a little more to see on my Facebook page. Let me give you a little bit of backstory. Thanks to algorithms and whatnot, my feeds on social media are typically filled with one of two things; cute animal videos are beautiful places to go. I tend to share them along the way. I came across this one spot that is local to me that just took my breath away. It truly called and to me and so when I shared it with a long-time friend of mine, her first words were “let’s go”.  That’s all that needed to be said.

I hadn’t seen her in quite some time and we were overdue for a little escapism and so the plan was set. It was an early wakeup on a Saturday morning in order to make the drive however I will do it again in a heartbeat. Where did we go? Well, this little spot of paradise is called, “Patch of Heaven“. A non-profit nature preserve located in the Redlands in South Florida, this place has it all. it encompasses tropical hammock, pine rock-land, tropical gardens, and historic structures. When one enters POHG it exudes a sense of both spiritual oneness with nature and a serenity engendered by being apart from the urban milieu. It possesses a special sense of place and peace. Heaven in the midst of a concrete jungle, and I was all for it. 

While I did take Beast with me to snap photos, I’ll be honest I didn’t capture much. I was far too lost in the atmosphere and how it made me feel. I kept saying I was ready to move there in the instant. What I did capture does not even begin to accurately depict that serenity felt,  I’m sharing my images with you nonetheless. There are a few more images to be found on my Facebook page if you would like to have a look-see although I can’t say it enough, it’s a spot you’ll want to see for yourselves. 

There was a self-guided tour option, which we did and while we got lost a couple of times, it always felt like home. Needless to say, I already want to visit again. That and pick up a little more of that honey they produce. It is divine. Enough delay, here are my top ten favorite images. Let me know what you think.

As for me, that is exactly what I’m doing. The daily grind has been pretty intensive as of late but that has not kept me from getting behind the lens. Now, the only drawback has been that I haven’t had much time to catch up here with my readers. Today is the day though and I’m dropping in to share with you my Top 5. 

You see, I was attending a tribute night to Linkin Park and Audioslave when I was pleasantly surprised by who was opening. It was great catching up with the guys again and they sounded great. I really did enjoy their set and I’m really quite happy with how the images themselves turned out. I am only choosing five for this entry (sorry, I’ve been watching High Fidelity and 5 is the number), so you’ll have to go to my Facebook page for the full set.

With Revolution Live being my second home in a sense, I decided to shoot a little differently this night. What can I say, my muse came to me. For me, it was a free-flowing night. No angle, no objective, I just went with the vibe around me and I have to say that it was quite good. I love those kinds of times. Those times are bringing you these images and nothing but vibe. Of course, you know that I am bringing to you my top ten images because that is my MO.

Yes, it’s time for another peek through my eyes. This time we are looking through a night of tribute to both INXS and U2. So let’s begin with INXS.

I’m an INXS fan. I always have been since I was a young girl. To me, Michael Hutchence was a fantastic frontman. I adored watching his performances and seeing him on stage doing his thing. Sadly it’s been 27 years since he’s been gone but the music lives on. So I was glad to be able to cover a tribute to his music.

But this post is for the music as well as for the memory. I will admit, I did not take as many images as I usually do. I was more focused on shooting clean and capturing the mood for the evening. After all, I was loving the atmosphere in place. Yes, I was at Revolution Live, my home away from home as of late and it was a great crowd. I did love walking around from spot to spot with my Beast capturing those little moments and I’m hoping it shows through in my images.

Actually I don’t but for the purpose of this entry, why not use a few lyrics? I have been working on my backlog, sharing some of my most recent gigs with you all. For the most part, I’ve been doing it in somewhat the order they were taken. That being said, next up in the queue and as a follow up to the previous post the main attraction on this night was Appetite for Destruction.

If you weren’t able to figure out who they are a tribute to, I’ll tell you. They are a tribute band to Guns and Roses. Now I know everyone may or may not be a fan of Guns and Roses but I am so it was a great night indeed. These guys were pretty much on point and I really did enjoy their set. 

It was pretty cool to be rocking to GNR while working my way through the crowd. I did pack light this night, only carrying with me the 24-70mm to rock on Beast but it was definitely more than enough and yeah, the mood was right. It was quite a bit of nostalgia for me and here I am bringing to you my top ten favorites. To those of you who know me on a personal level, you know how I am very much a fan of Rhye. If you don’t know me, then that was a little FY and I for you. From the moment I heard their song “Open”, I was hooked. So when I found out they were coming down once again for Art Basel, I had to put in my request for coverage. Yes, this one was ProBono and I regret nothing. 

In my last entry, I shared with you some images from Mons Vi which opened for them and now it’s time for my Top 10 favorites of none other than Rhye. Yes, I was in the feels this night without a doubt. They played quite a few of my favorite tracks included “Open”. This evening was absolutely perfect. They played North Beach Bandshell on a particularly cooler night. So you had the cooler weather, the beach, and the vibe. I really could not have been any happier that evening.

I did take both my 24-70mm lens as well as my big boy, the 70-200mm and I made use of them both. So yes, sweater weather, chill tunes and then there’s me working my way around the venue and just taking it all in. I didn’t shoot much but I did get together my favorites here with a few more images on my Facebook page. You know, just in case you wanted to see what I’m talking about. And if you want to be turned on to something new, check them out on Spotify. They are so mellow definitely on my playlists for when I’m relaxing and even editing.

A few weeks ago, Revolution Live was hosting a night of tribute to both Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam. Yes, the 90’s grunge era was in full effect with both Crackerman and Still Alive. So when they hit me up to cover the evening, you know I was more than happy to oblige. Now, I will be honest and say that I was not sure what to expect from this evening. After all, when you pay tribute to a band, you have to be on point. Let me tell you, that was exactly what it was. 

Crackerman kicked off the night and they had me by opening with my favorite STP song, “Wet My Bed”. It didn’t end there, the hits kept coming and I kept shooting. I was having such a great time jamming to the music and feeling that vibe from the crowd. I know that some might call it work, but for me, I was just doing my thing working my way from the pit to the other areas of the venue.

It was over before I knew it but not before I grabbed some great moments. It was my Beast and I and nothing else mattered except the moments. I only packed my 24-70mm lens this time around and the size was just right. It allowed me to get up close and personal and that’s just how I like it.  But enough chatter, let me give you the goods. Here are my top ten favorites.

I had an absolute blast on this night and it all began with my peeps, The Main Squeeze. Now, I initially was not going to be allowed to shoot from the pit as the tour had strict guidelines for photogs this evening, however Smiley is the man and got me the go ahead. After all, I love working with these guys. Not only are they so much fun to work with, they are fabulous on stage. Each time I catch one of their shows, they blow my mind that much more. 

Yes, I always pack my long lens as a just in case precaution and on this night I was thankful that I do. I didn’t need it for this set though. I was armed with my 24-70mm sitting pretty and working hard right along with The Beast while The Main Squeeze was blowing minds from the jump. It’s difficult at times to keep my two feet on the ground when all I want to do is groove and dance but hey, I love what I do and once I open up for that first shutter click, it’s autopilot for me.

House rules for the night meant that once my three song time limit was up, I had to step outside until the next band and so I went out to swap lenses and chat up some other photogs and concert goers. They were raving about the Squeeze and yes, the anticipation was building for the rest of the night’s lineup. You’ll have some more images from this evening in my next couple of posts. This is the why. I had an amazing night of funk as a guest photographer for Revolution Live last weekend. George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic ran their leg of the One Nation Under a Groove tour through South Florid and yes I had the privilege of being there live and direct. It was a bit of a tense time for us here in South Florida as we were keeping a watchful eye over Hurricane Dorian that was churning over the Caribbean wrecking havoc and we were unsure where and when he would make landfall that upcoming Monday. 

Well, rather than stay in, there was the option of heading out that Friday night prior and letting off a little steam and getting the groove on. I was more than happy to do so and I got to partake in it while doing what I love. Yes, I was behind the lens for this epic night of funk. 

Now I’m not sharing these sets in the order of performance, but rather my own personal order and the reasons why I went. You see, this night had performances by The Main Squeeze, Miss Velvet and the Blue Wolf, Fishbone and of course, PFunk. My first set that I’m sharing is of Miss Velvet and the Blue Wolf. 

Honestly, I didn’t have any knowledge of this band prior to this night but let me tell you they were great. And the vocals, wow. I was amazed of how she could sound so great despite all that energy and movement on stage. But I’ll leave the musical review to you guys should you check them out on your own. I’m here to share what I saw through my eyes this night. Here is my top selection.
