I had to do it. I had to watch the sun come up and a brand new day dawn. Plus, I had yet to take the Beast out to my favorite beach and there is no better time like the present. After all, tomorrow is never promised. I have always preferred sunrise to sunsets for that reason. It’s the start of new day if nothing else. Wow, I’m full of anecdotes today aren’t I? 

I don’t want to stray from the point, sunrises. They really are my favorite. Even more so when they are coming up over the ocean. Feeling the warmth on your face, the smell of the salt in the ocean and even the feel of the sand between your toes. It is absolutely perfect. I had not realized just how much I had needed to step away like that even if it was but for a few hours. I have quite a lot taking place all at once and to decompress like that is certainly recommended by royalty. 

As for my adventure. Yes, I woke up early. Earlier than my normal work day. Thankfully though, I am a morning person and with a cup of coffee in hand, I wan in route to Hollywood Beach. Have I mentioned how much I love that beach? While I typically go a bit further north than the boardwalk, I wanted to incorporate some of the boardwalk aspect in to my photos so I made the exception this time around. Granted, it was a fairly busy morning despite my 6:30 a.m. arrival though I was excited to grab a few shots with people partaking in the dawn activities. I normally don’t capture people unless they are performing though there silhouettes fit just nicely this set. 

I didn’t take very many photos. To be honest I really didn’t want to just sit there and take in the beauty. But the ones I did take I am very pleased to share with you. Alas, it didn’t feel like I was there long enough and I do plan on another visit very, very soon. In the meanwhile, please enjoy my captures and feel free to leave comments. I love feedback. On a personal level, yes, I don’t usually go there, March is a particularly rough month. Two years ago on March 8th, I lost my father and with his birthday a mere 10 days after his passing would have been his birthday. While obviously there is still grief and I miss him endlessly, I try not to think of the fact that he is not with me in the physical. Instead I focus on cherishing his memory. One way for me to do so is to go out and photograph. He was after all, my number one fan. So this year, I took to a spot he used to take me to quite frequently as a child, Key Biscayne. There was such beautiful weather after all, I felt that why not?

I arrived early enough in the morning and was welcomed by what seemed to be a vulture feeding of some sort. There were large bags laid out and the vultures were gathered all around. I have actually never seen so many vultures in one place at the same time. It was interesting enough to say the least. I snapped a few shots of them and proceeding my little nature walkabout. I wanted to focus more on the landscapes themselves. After all, I was outdoors and in the sunshine by the water. There was a few people buzzing about. From fisherman, to other photographers doing shoots and while some made it in to my captures, most of what you see is nature on a beautiful day.

I came away very pleased with the energy of the day. Tranquility, peace and serenity. There was no more fitting way to honor my Piscean father. At the risk of being too repetitive on both my Facebook album and here on this blog entry, I narrowed down my absolute favorites for you to see here. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

What began as a simple walk in the park turned in to something much more when I found a cute little spot tucked away and full of things to see.

Time for another entry. This one comes to you along with a set I took when I was randomly inspired during one of my nature walks. I love taking hikes and while I have a few destinations in mind, this time my walk was local. I initially only set out with the intention of only taking a nice stroll on a gorgeous day, then I found the cutest little spot tucked away. I couldn’t help but to sneak off and meditate. Then I had a visitor. Luckily I always bring my camera. He was cute and a bit of a ham. So I do what I do and grabbed a few snaps of him before he climbed away in a nearby tree. After that visitor I was discovered by the sweetest little duck. Poor thing had a bum leg but he made up for it in personality. I guess he was trying to find out what goods I had in my bag. I was sorry to disappoint. Still, I managed on grabbing a few shots of him as well. Of course there were other views that caught my eye and suffice to say it was a lovely day. I hope you enjoy the captured and as always, I thank you.

That is exactly what took place last Monday. I was relaxing at home, organizing, sorting through files, cleaning, the whole nine… and just as I’m wrapping up, inspiration struck. I grabbed my camera and headed off pretty much right away. How could I not? The day was beautiful, albeit hot. Nonetheless, it was definitely a gift to be able to go out and take in the sunshine.

The park itself is beautiful. Lots of open spaces, trails and there’s even horses though privately owned. My favorite spots would have to be the viewing tower and the walking trails. The viewing tower, for obvious reasons, on account of being up amongst the trees. As for the walking trails, I absolutely loved being hidden away from the other visitors and just be able to walk down the paths taking in the surroundings. I could have done without the mosquitoes, though hey, you can’t have it all. I definitely plan on going back there and hopefully soon.

Despite the cloud coverage, there was a lot of glare and getting the right exposure was a bit of a hassle at some points. Nonetheless, I’m quite happy with how the shots turned out. This past weekend I had the need to be by the water. I can not help it, I’m a Cancerian after all. It was a rather overcast day, however i wasn’t going to let that stop me. When you want something, you go and get it. So I did and it was just what the doctor ordered. Hollywood Beach is incredibly beautiful in my opinion. I love the walkways and the mangroves and cat tails bordering the ocean.

Anyways, before I digress. As I mentioned it was an overcast day and it set a certain tone for my shots. I can’t really explain it though hoping the editing brings it out. I didn’t want to alter them too much initially. I just couldn’t help myself on some of them. I also didn’t trim down my selection for this post. I want to share them all. Work, family life, health concerns for loved ones, it has been rather overwhelming. However, this morning I had about an hour to spare before beginning my day and so I headed immediately to the beach. I have been longing to be by the water and it has been ages since I paid a visit to Hollywood Beach. It was a brief visit,  though it was as soothing as it needed to be on all counts. My only wish is that I could have stayed longer. Still, I hope you enjoy my morning view.
