One of my favorite things to do is to get outside and to go exploring. Especially when it’s to explore a new spot, even more so when the place where you are going ends up being tranquility personified.

It’s so good to be back. Yes, I’m speaking both in writing and behind the lens. As I mentioned in my last entry, I am back behind the lens with my Beast doing what I love, shooting live music. I first shared with you a quick little set of the band, Juke and now it’s time for the main event, Roosevelt Collier. I first experienced the magic of his steel guitar a couple of years back as one of the supporting acts at “One Nation Under a Groove” and I’ve without a doubt been a fan ever since.
I have been meaning, wanting, needing, to head out to the beach and watch the sunrise. To watch the daybreak, the sky lighting up in its golden hues. To feel the warmth touch my skin. To be able to bring in the dawn of a new day with an open heart. It’s just something I love to do.
I’d been looking for a weekend when they weren’t forecasting rain. Especially being how early I would have to wake up. Well, let’s just say South Florida weather can be unpredictable, and watching the weather reports is not always accurate. Days where it was supposed to rain it, would only rain late evenings. Sometimes, it would not rain at all.
So I decided to take matters into my own hands and went a step further. I looked up the forecast, found a day where no rain was predicted, and took the day off of work. Then it was a matter of what beach. I wanted a bit more out of my outing. After all, This was going to happen and I was taking the Beast with me. So I looked up a few piers in my area for a change in scenery and decided upon the pier at Juno Beach.
I suppose you could call photographs of a sunrise by the pier, cliche. All you have to do is a quick search on the internet and you’ll see what I mean. You’ll find some amazing ones. That did not prevent me, however, from wanting to capture some of my own. Now, the difference being is you know I had to go throw in some feel to my editing in post. It’s that personal touch that shows the feeling. What was I feeling while shooting? How does the image make YOU feel? Well, I am giving you something you can feel. Go ahead and let me know. These are a few of my favorites. There is a couple more on my Facebook page if you’d like to see.
Each day is born with a sunrise
and ends in a sunset, the same way we
open our eyes to see the light,
and close them to hear the dark.
You have no control over
how your story begins or ends.
But by now, you should know that
all things have an ending.
Every spark returns to darkness.
Every sound returns to silence.
And every flower returns to sleep
with the earth.
The journey of the sun
and moon is predictable.
But yours,
is your ultimate
ART.

Getting things done and all in its due time. It gets a bit tricky sometimes managing time. You know it as well as I. Between going to my gigs, editing my captures and submitting them timely to the client, I have to take the time to maintain my social media presence. Sharing my albums and writing corresponding blogs can at times be an animal all in its one. In some ways, I’ve developed a routine of sorts and of course, prioritizing.
That being said, going hand in hand with my last post where I shared coverage of the tribute band, The US Stones at Revolution Live, it is only fair of me to share with you their supporting artists, Supergold. These guys had some energy and let us not even get started on how entertaining they were to watch perform. I did enjoy myself quite a bit, to say the least. So I did get together a few images to share with you in this entry. Yes, I am still working on my backlog when it comes to my past gigs. December is turning out to be eventful and lately, time is a commodity.
So without any further ado, let’s get to this round of my top 10 and if you visit my Facebook page you’ll get even a better idea of the energy I’m talking about.
Thank you for taking the time to see what I see. I appreciate you.
The moment I had been waiting for. What I had prepared for. Nonpoint takes the stage and I checked off another mark on that list. (more…)
It’s with great excitement that I’m writing this post. For several reasons, actually. First and foremost, on a personal level I was able to make it out to Cheers in Ft. Lauderdale this last Friday night to support some friends of mine and my favorite bands. I love going out to see live music, meeting new people and in general, having a great time. Secondly, and equally as important, I got to shoot live. Now, mind you, it’s been quite some time since I’ve shot live music. It hasn’t been easy for me to find the time lately although it is my favorite type of photography. This particular event though, I could not miss. (more…)
