Spark a Rebelution

Hello friends and fans alike. It’s been some time since I’ve last posted an entry and I’m hoping you can forgive me. If you know me personally or read my personal blog www.queenmaryxo.com you’ll know I’ve recently suffered a death of someone very close to me. Although she was a great supporter of my work, I haven’t had it in me to get behind the lens. For the last two weeks I’ve been fighting with myself to snap out of it (no pun intended), yet it wasn’t as easy as that.

My friends have been supportive of me and told me that, when I was ready I would pick Artemis up again. It became my mantra so to speak. Two weeks of burying myself in work trying to keep my mind occupied. Though that tactic did work well, it kept me from doing what I do. It was and inner struggle and when I fought with daily, yet I knew I had to get behind the lens. I kept telling myself, tomorrow you will go out shooting. I even hyped myself up saying that I would step right back in for Urban Rebel’s gig opening for Saigon Kick.

In a way it was easier said than done. Here I was walking up to the venue telling myself, it’s okay Queen, if you’re not ready, there’s always next time. Then I thought, I’m sure those are things we’ve all said until one day is our last day and there is no next time. Still, I was almost convinced that I would wait until the mood struck next time. That was until I was at the front door speaking with the guitarist. We were talking about getting us in quicker and he had asked if I brought my camera. Artemis is always with me and so I said of course. That’s when he suggested I place one of their stickers on my lens cap and let it be known I was there as their photographer.

I didn’t do that and we got in as soon as they opened the doors. Though later in the night, that is exactly what I did. I also got behind the lens and I’m so glad that I did. JB doesn’t know it, yet it owe it to him for these photos. Something happened when he spoke to me. The gear in my head clicked and I was back. Here is the result. I hope you like them as much as I do. The show was great as usual. These guys never fail to impress. Despite the problems with the door, their performance was top notch. Have I mentioned they’re going to Vegas this week to perform for the Grammy’s showcase? I’m so proud of them and happy for them. Maybe one day I’ll be able to join them on tour 😉
