Even with a fight breaking out right next to me, it was all about the vibe that night. Of course my small little self got up quick as hell and relocated to a different spot. I was not trying to be a casualty on such a gorgeous night. The fight not withstanding, I was loving it that night. The spinners were on fire, figuratively speaking of course. Or am I?
Excited does not even begin to describe how I feel about this particular set. Why? In a nutshell, because fire-spinning is my second favorite type of event to shoot. Capturing shadows, the flame and the spinners themselves is a skill that I’m constantly trying to improve upon. Plus, the performers at our local drum circle are a group of amazing people. There’s nothing but good vibes to be had. I’m sharing with you quite a few photos in this particular collection and that’s simply because there was just no way I could narrow it down any further.
I started working with about 700 photos. Obviously there were the immediate throw aways, the out of focus, the way too dark, etc. Then came the ones I felt sort of blasé about. That narrowed it down to about 150 photos to work through and well, these are my picks. I have a few more up here on Facebook page because I wanted to share as many as I could with the spinners, but these, these are my favorites. I hope you enjoy.
Oh and p.s., I dedicated this set to my dad. It’s bittersweet to have a collection that I’m this excited about and not have him here to share it with. Still, I know he’s looking over my shoulder and smiling. I miss you dad.
