I had previously held out on editing this set until now because I wanted to take my time with it.
Not only was this particular set of images outside of my usual venue when it comes to shooting live music, it was a special day for not only myself, but for the others involved and I think that my photos deserved a bit more care than usual. Yes, I’m a sap at times.
Last Saturday morning I was given the opportunity to photograph a special as well as very touching event, the guys at Soulicide and Dee Snider preforming an acoustic set of Christmas Carols for the children at Joe Dimaggio’s Children’s Hospital. What an amazing feeling to be able to see the kids faces light up and smiles come across their faces despite the fact that they are unwell. For myself it was a mix of joy and sadness, though still touched my the moment which left a lasting impression on me.
I didn’t photography the children for the most part as I wanted to respect their privacy, I focused more on the fun and cheer these guys were able to not simply have, but to share. I know I came away reminded of not only how fragile life is, but just how beautiful it can be if you are open to it. So here are my favorite moments of that wonderful morning. I have a few more up on my Facebook Page which you are always free to visit.
