What have I been up to? Well, for starters, I’m getting things done. Checking off that goal list and working my way on through the next ones. Time waits for no man, or so they say. That being said, it’s time for another entry and gallery set I’ve put together for you. If there is one thing I enjoy, it’s pleasant surprises. Yes, I was pleased to have covered this night.
I wasn’t sure what this night was going to bring as I had no real knowledge of who the bands playing this evening were. I had heard of Blue October but the name of the opening act had not been disclosed so I went in a tad blind so to speak. The great thing is, I’m not the type to have any set expectations which pretty much makes it easy to stay open to anything.
And now, on to the goods. I will be posting a set a little later on including Blue October but first I wanted to share with you the direct support. It was a last-minute swap of bands and up on stage was New Direction. They were a great group of guys and their sound was inline with what I was thinking Blue October was going to sound like.
I’ll keep this entry brief because I do know that time is a commodity for us all as of late but here are my top ten favorites. Being that they were the opening band, the lighting was not at its prime and of course the next band’s gear was behind them but still, I really did enjoy myself picking up on the excitement from the crowd. Yes, Blue October does have on hell of a following and there were smiles all around. Now there are a few more images I’m sharing on my Facebook page so go ahead and have a peek there if you wish.
I stayed in the photo pit for the most part during this set. What can I say? I was in the mood to shoot some angles and armed with my usual weapon of choice the 24-70m, I was able to play around a little. It was also helpful that they widened the pit a bit after there venue’s last concert. I give much love to the security team for that one. After all, I tend to be a little altitude challenged so it was nice to not have to be staring straight up the musician’s noses.
Thank you all for your time. Please know that I appreciate you coming around. As always, please feel free to leave me some feedback. I won’t ever be too big to grow.
P.S. And on a personal note, this quick little clip for me was pure magic and divine timing. There I was, in the photo pit between New Direction breaking down their gear and Blue October setting up. The venue playing music to keep us in the mood and then this happened. There is no band playing, there was just us, joined in unison and playing a song that resonates deeply with me. It was a moment of pure bliss and joy for me. So there you have it, a little “behind the scenes” so to speak. Click the link and listen in. It truly was beautiful.
